Downloading Geoshell
You can download GeoShell from the Downloads section of the GeoShell Homepage
– or to go there directly, use this link
.
This page includes links to the latest version of geoshell to include an installer, the latest beta patches (when available), and the even the source code for this wonderful replacement shell. You should also find a link to allow you to download previous releases from SourceForge
.
Generally speaking, the installer is usually the best choice for new users and is often the best choice for upgraders too (unless the latest release was only released as a patch). But the Downloads section of the site should indicate if this isn't the case.
Installing Geoshell
Major releases of GeoShell are generally released in two flavors: Installers and Zips. Zip file installs should be considered the Advanced method and should be avoided by new users. Even experienced GeoShell users should be encouraged to use the installer if serious changes have been made since the version of GeoShell they are used to.
The installer is very simple, and is fully explained in the documentation if you want a early look at what you are getting yourself into... the installer can do lots of neat things like migrate settings that have moved from the old locations to the new ones and set your default shell for you (and since GeoShell is started by WinShellEx now, this is an even better feature)!
But if you insist on installing from a zip file , then you should check out the documentation for any tips, tricks, or requirements that you may need to know.
 | Be aware that you don't get an Uninstaller if you install GeoShell manually from a zip file! |

Uninstalling Geoshell
If you are certain you want to, getting rid of GeoShell is an easy process. The uninstaller is so simple in fact, that you don't really need instructions, but the documentation has them anyway!
